SHANGHAI, China (March 11, 2016) – Today, Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (NCIC) joined the China Association of Automotive Manufacturers (CAAM), Shanghai Customs, China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Administration and local parts suppliers in celebrating Nissan’s 10th anniversary of auto parts export from China.

NCIC shipped its first container of auto parts in January 2006, a year when parts were shipped to a total of 8 markets. Currently, via two business bases in Shanghai and Guangzhou, locally-sourced parts are exported to 17 markets, making China the second largest logistics network of Nissan in the world, only next to the headquarters in Japan.

In 2006, NCIC initially had 50 suppliers, including 2 local suppliers. By 2015, the list has grown rapidly to 400 including 52 local suppliers. In July 2015, NCIC achieved a milestone for Nissan in China by reaching cumulative parts export volume of 100,000 containers.

NCIC has remained in the top group of players in terms of export value among the Chinese auto industry. According to the official data released by the China Customs, NCIC ranked number one among the Chinese automotive industry in 20141, and ranked number 2 in the first half of 20152.

NCIC evaluates and chooses the best suppliers in a fair and transparent manner, using an approach that is based on the Renault-Nissan global standard and features “Quality,”“Cost,”“Delivery,”“Development”and“Management,”. As NCIC ensures and strengthens its capacity to supply auto parts, it has carried out a series of improvement initiatives, including“THANKS” (Trusty and Harmonious Alliance Network Kaizen Activity with Suppliers) activity and a series of measures that have enhanced quality, lowered costs and improved suppliers’overall competitiveness.

Mr. Takashi Nishibayashi, president of NCIC, said: “Throughout the past 10 years, NCIC has received tremendous support from the government and its related departments, as well as industry associations, our joint venture, Dongfeng Nissan and supplier partners. On behalf of NCIC, I would like to express my sincere appreciation.”He added,“We are very pleased that our parts export business is contributing to the development of the Chinese auto parts industry and a strong automotive industry in China.”

In 2015, Nissan sold 1.25 million units of vehicles in China. As China being one of the most important markets for Nissan, NCIC will continue engaging more Chinese parts suppliers and pursuit the best performance in terms of quality, cost and delivery of parts to address global market needs.
